I have been wondering what has been going on with PML lately. Products have been out of stock for months and aside from the glass skin mask and the weird Candy Crush collab, there haven't been any new product launches. It's felt stagnant for a while and I hope that's not the case, they make some of my favourite products.
Out of all the brands, this may do well. As far as Pat, I don’t think it will hurt her sales. I don’t think most LV people will think twice about it. They’re more than likely going to be the people who can’t afford a bag but get the brand at a more achievable price point.
I have a feeling this brand will do quite well actually.
I agree. When I worked at Chanel (late 80s, early 90s), we scratched our heads over why people paid $17.00 for lipstick (in 1988, that was A LOT). Our head of EDU, Deborah Dayton, explained that it was a way for people to gain entry to the world of Chanel without shelling out for a bag or accessories. They would signal to others that they had joined the community by flashing the "locking Cs" on a lipstick case or a compact (while wearing knock-off clothing and accessories).
Those are great points. My first question was if this will be a conflict of interest? As you mentioned , there have been other artists who have done this and ran their own line simultaneously. I believe Pat McGrath labs their major increase in sales and release recently (a few years ago) was when she released the Bridgerton collection and then the glass skin.
There’s another question (at least for me) that pops up is that as the competition in the industry increases due to new brands creation especially luxury brands, how can one keep up with new innovations while for their own brand while helping another brand? It’s definitely a major question for me as I’m slowly getting into the business side of the industry.
I have to admit to not paying much attention to PM Labs. It isn't on my radar as I focus more on pro products. However I do follow her and admire her innovative creativity. She is an icon in our industry. I think this will look like a departure from one line to another. Her fans will follow her to LV.

I’d love to hear others thoughts too.
