In the past, investors have approached me to create a signature cosmetic brand. I've declined each time. I was approached again recently, and the investor couldn't understand why I wasn't interested if I was guaranteed not to lose $$$ (just in case the brand didn't take off).⠀
⠀
So why won’t I develop my own brand? It’s pretty simple - I don’t want to compete with my clients. ⠀
I've done a few collaborations in the past, but that's different. As soon as a brand has my name printed on it, and it's publicized that I am a brand "founder", I'm in direct competition with the clients who hire me as a cosmetic development consultant. What marginally intelligent brand owner would hire "the competition" to develop their cosmetics?
True Story: I know a brand owner who trusted their consultant implicitly and paid them VERY well ($$$). The consultant used all the contacts they made through theclient…to create their own brand. The consultant was under contract ($$$) to develop products for a brand, and at the same time, was actively using the client’s resources to develop their own brand. Besides being highly unethical, it was shady AF and damages the credibility of other consultants (like me).
So, those of you who are still hoping that KJBennettBeauty will become a cosmetic brand…sorry, it's not happening. My business model has been quite successful as is. There's no need to derail my money train just to have my name on some packaging…even though my monogram looks great on that lipgloss tube. 😉

That’s too bad. 🤭 I’d like to see it.
When you think about it, you pretty much have your brand. It’s all the products that you’ve already developed for all these other companies 💅🏼💅🏼💅🏼😌😌😌
