Beauty influencers recommend products that they are compensated to advertise. Their job is to “influence” you to buy what they promote in their posts and videos. I don't hate their hustle; I'm defining what they’re hired to do.

I am a cosmetic industry expert, educator, and consumer advocate with four decades of knowledge and experience. I do not accept compensation from brands for posting about their products. If you need to label me, I’m a content creator, not an influencer.

I’ll do a deep dive into a product’s formulation and efficacy to see if it matches the brand’s marketing story - because I LOVE TO RESEARCH and share the citable facts I’ve gathered. This is especially important because there are far too many “influential voices” on social media platforms reading right off a brand’s marketing sheet, or amplifying some outrageous misinformation for views/clicks and $$$ (especially on TikTok).

I don’t want to “influence” people to invest in products simply because you trust me.
While I’m happy to provide foundational information to spark your curiosity, you should research independently and engage your critical thinking skills before investing in any products I post about.
This is especially important for the beauty professionals following my content. Look at my research…then do your own, because every professional makeup kit has different requirements based on your work life.

• Do you work with consumers (bridal and special event makeup)?

• Do you work with photographers?

• Do you work in video and film production?

Each job category has specific kit requirements. Just because I’ve given a product a good review doesn’t mean it’s a must-have for your kit.
I sometimes feel I provide too much in-depth information, preventing people from doing their own research.
